Overview
Manual genome annotation is often more accurate and complete than
automated systems, but it is expensive and depends on the skill of
the annotator. EAnnot (Electronic Annotation) combines a number of
tools to exploit publicly-available data for fast, reliable automatic
gene prediction and annotation. The program creates gene models based
on mRNA, EST, and protein alignments to genomic sequence. It also
attaches supporting evidence to the corresponding genes and captures
other attributes, e.g. pseudogenes, poly-A sites, and signals.
