Faria Noor

My name is Faria Noor and I go to school at Hunter College. I am currently a rising senior and am majoring in Biology. I hope to continue my genetics research for the following year before I apply to MD-PhD programs.

Research Area

I currently work in Dr. Daniel Link’s lab. My research is focused on Leukemia and we are testing what role retinoid X receptors (RXR) play in Acute Myeloid Leukemia as well as Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.  RXRA contributes to myeloid maturation of cells and hence prevent hyperproliferation of leukemic cells by promoting the differentiation of post-mitotic myeloid cells. My project focuses on exploring the role of the COMPASS complex which interacts with RXRs and how deleting certain genes such as KDM6A and KMT2C which are components of this complex, can influence leukemic cell proliferation.
